“Like a red morn that ever yet betokened,Wreck to the seaman, tempest to the field,Sorrow to the shepherds, woe unto the birds,Gusts and foul flaws to herdmen and to herds.”

William Shakespeare

Another take on red sky in the morning .....Great colours this morning , but no rain predicted , we will take it as it comes ...

Best of all, Christmas means a spirit of love, a time when the love of God and love of our fellow men should prevail over all hatred and bitterness, a time when our thoughts and deeds and the spirit of our lives manifest the presence of God.

-George F. McDougall

It can be hard to not get caught up in the trivia and tinsel we try hard here to live the message every day.

Currently we are looking forward to our winter solstice gathering 3pm on Saturday 21st labyrinth walk and bonfire .

The light coming back into the days.

“There are no borders in bonsai. The dove of peace flies to palace as to humble house, to young as to old, to rich and poor. So does the spirit of bonsai.”
― John Yoshio Naka

“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”
― Nelson MandelaLong Walk to Freedom

The great man himself may have disappeared from our horizons , but his words and energy live on with the legacy he left behind .

There is a saying on a gravestone in Charlton cemetery which reads "Elevated to a higher sphere of  helpfulness"

RIP Madiba

Do you think it is only a little thing to possess a house from which lovely things can be seen?
Saint Teresa of Avila

What we perceive is dependant on our state of mind .As the weather cools with the talk of snow and gales, it is a  great thing we can remember the saying above and others like it .

Accustom yourself continually to make many acts of love, for they en-kindle and melt the soul.
Saint Teresa of Avila

Heartfelt truth , spoken earnestly and with love injects positivity into the cosmos

He, who every morning plans the transactions of the day, and follows that plan, carries a thread that will guide him through a labyrinth of the most busy life.
Victor Hugo

Busy couple of days ahead , but we have positive intentions behind every task . Here are the alpacas in our labyrinth

Pain is never permanent.
Saint Teresa of Avila

We have decided to leave Dylan intact for now, pain may not be permanent, however we cannot replace what is removed.

If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude.

Maya Angelou

Thinking a lot about the changes we have made here in the 16 months since we became custodians. So very much to be grateful for and so much enthusiasm to achieve more since attending the Caroline Myss workshop at Findhorn last weekend.

It is hard to recall how the walkway was back in April we have the pictures to remind us .

Where there is a will there is a way ,it starts with a grateful and open heart and clear intentions and somehow the impossible happens.

“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.
From an Irish headstone”

A friend had her dog die suddenly whilst she was overseas helping others. I for one know what a hole, a loss of such a companion can feel like. I also know that once we accept it the hole is filled from the eternal  well and we can once again experience the flow at a deeper level.

For one of our doggie companions a visit to the vets on Monday has been scheduled in order that his constant attention of Lillie will calm down and allow the bond they have to deepen without a young pups desire getting in the way!!!!

Where we love is home - home that our feet may leave, but not our hearts.
Oliver Wendell Holmes

Our home gets lovelier by the day  , the changing seasons keep it really interesting , the dogs are glad to be back , lovely to snuggle up to a fire in the lounge

Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not.

To reach something good it is very useful to have gone astray, and thus acquire experience.
Saint Teresa of Avila

"It is necessary ... for a man to go away by himself ... to sit on a rock ... and ask, 'Who am I, where have I been, and where am I going?”
― Carl Sandburg
Self reflection is not always a comfortable thing I find, it has though, always been useful.
We are reflecting on our year so far here,  what else can and needs to be done with the time and funds we have left.
One thing is the alpacas field shelter which my brother is arriving today to build. Lets hope they will like it the weather is turning quickly into winter.

"The days of our lives, for all of us, are numbered...We know that. And yes, there are certainly times when we aren't able to muster as much strength and patience as we would like. It's called being human. But I have found that in the simple act of living with hope, and in the daily effort to have a positive impact in the world, the days I do have are made all the more meaningful and precious. And for that I am grateful.”
― Elizabeth Edwards
Lillie caught another hen she has been buried with the other animals that have died since we have been here.
The others are still going about  their day hopeful and happy that we will do our best to care for them , at least that's how it appears.

A circle is the reflection of eternity. It has no beginning and it has no end - and if you put several circles over each other, then you get a spiral.
Maynard James Keenan
The spiral in the secret garden watching life's circle as we remove old plants to make way for new. Nature doing watch nature does.
How blessed are we to be able to witness this.

“[H]iding how you really feel and trying to make everyone happy doesn't make you nice, it just makes you a liar.”
― Jenny O'Connell, The Book of Luke
Nature doesn't lie, so obvious today that winter is well and truly on its way.
The wind has such a rawness to it, grateful to be able to watch from the window.

“Accept responsibility for your life. Know that it is you who will get you where you want to go, no one else.”

 Les Brown
